Remember the elves I got a few years back? Well, we have an ornament contest going on at work and I was thinking of what to do. I had a bunch of pine cones I collected this summer at the cabin to work with. I decided to try to recreate the vintage elves I had, since I love them so much. Here is my version for submission:
The pine cones got tipped in white craft paint. I made the feet and heads out of the air dry foam type clay and painted them with craft paint. I make the arms, beards, mini trees out of pipe cleaners, and topped the trees with star shaped paper fasteners. The hats are velvet ribbon trimmed with a pipe cleaner and the base is painted egg carton covered in glitter.
Here is a side by side of the replica vs the original vintage elf on the right.
Hope your Christmas week is merry and bright!
